Food Technology


At the Bridge Short Stay School, young people are encouraged to learn basic food skills, hygiene and safety whilst working in the kitchen.

The students look at healthy options to cook and bake; introducing recipes that link with the ‘Fruit of the Week’.

We look at different types of fruit from around the world, each week, and taste to see what it is like.

We make healthy choices to fit in with the monthly theme and cook up delicious dishes to try.

Students at the Bridge enjoy their one to one cooking lessons. It gives them the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence in the kitchen.

Cookery is a life skill that is very important to learn and develop. Students are given the opportunity to budget for a family meal with limited funds and also, like one student at Christmas, plan a big meal for the whole school community.
