The main purpose of The Bridge Short Stay School is to develop young people and prepare them for the next step in life; this includes developing their social and behavioural skills as well as academic education and in Key Stage 4 preparing them for formal exams.

Students sitting exams at The Bridge have rarely been with us for the entireity of their Key Stage 4; nearly all have experienced a disrupted education experience before arriving with us.

In 2017; 12 student completed Year 11 at The Bridge following permanent exclusion from mainstream schools.

75% of students achieved at least 1 GCSE (last known national data shows that 57.7% of permanently excluded students achieve this nationally)

75% of students achieved at least 3 GCSEs

English Language: 75% of students achieved a GCSE

Maths: 75% of students achieved a GCSE

75% of students achieved GCSEs in both English & Maths (last known national data shows that 18.9% of permanently excluded students achieve this nationally)

Science: 75% of students achieved a GCSE

0% achieved a strong pass in English or Maths. 0% achieved the English Baccalaureate.

In order to help prepare students to move on into further education training or employment most year 11 students also sit functional skills exams in English & Maths - taking these into account 42% achieved accreditation at Level 2.

As of Easter 2018 91.6% of students have sustained further education, training or employment
